Assistance is available from Robeson County food pantries. The distribution centers will try not to turn anyone away. They may provide boxes of groceries, free food, Christmas or Thanksgiving meals, and even items such as baby formula. While most of the locations are in the city of Lumberton, clients have other places they can try for help as well. Note it is important to note that the hours of distribution are limited. It is recommended to call in advance to determine the hours and availability. Whenever possible the food pantry will give fresh fruits or vegetables, non-perishable groceries, dairy items, and more. Many of the charitable programs in the Robeson County have one or more “special” services too. These include Meals on Wheels, applications to SNAP food stamps, and many others.
