Free fans and air conditioners in Lake County OH

Low income families in Lake County Ohio who are struggling with paying their cooling and air conditioning bills have some options available to them. There are government programs, including HEAP, which will provide a free air conditioner or fan, non-profit programs including from Lifeline and other options. Find how to get a free AC or fan in Lake County The goal is to help ensure Lake County families living in or near poverty, with a focus on senior citizens and disabled people, are able to stay cool during the summer. They will often get priority to a free window fan or portable air conditioner. Another goal is on families, including single moms or dads, with a young kid.

Charities in Lake County that give out free fans or air conditioners

Painesville Ohio based Lifeline, Inc. offers a number of financial resources, including applications to Home Energy Assistance Program’s summer crisis service as well as many of their other low-income assistance programs. There is a summer application process too. The agency can provide financial assistance, fans, and/or air conditioners to qualified residents from either HEAP or partnerships with other groups in the county. This program provides help to qualified low income families, working poor and people faced with poverty. Most of the financial help to pay a summer cooling bills or to pay for an air conditioner goes to people who spend a disproportionate amount of their total household income towards paying their utility bills. Requests for information and applications for the federal government funded Home Energy Assistance Program are limited. Any air conditioner unit that is given out for free is first-come served, with only a limited amount of systems each year. The HEAP program will ensure a new air conditioner is provided while Lifeline works with other local partners in Lake County to try to collect, and give out, free gently used AC units or a fan. While Lifeline is based in Painesville Ohio, they cover the entire Lake County region. Staff from the non-profit process applications for the utility bill assistance program that also provide air conditioners. It is one of the primary resources that helps the low income during the Lake County OH summer months. There are two other non-profit, charity organizations to try for either one or more fans for a house or a small, window based air conditioner. They include the

Government benefits programs for free box fans or ACs

The HEAP Summer Crisis Program

provides financial assistance, grant money free fans, or AC units to low-income Lake County households. Some of the eligibility requirements include the applying household needs to have a household member who is 60 years or older. Or households can provide physician documentation that cooling bill assistance is needed for a household member’s health. For example, if someone is faced with a medical condition that could worsen if their utilities are shut off during the summer, then those individuals may qualify for financial assistance. The HEAP Summer Crisis Program does have income guidelines, so that is a consideration too. Ohio weatherization can also help with air conditioners. This is often combined with HEAP (above), but the weatherization program often has an even longer wait list. There are also minor home repairs, tune ups to existing window or outside air conditioners, and other energy saving programs.
