Hundreds of regional food banks are part of the nationwide network. So what Feeding America does is they provide stuff to those locations, and those local free Feeding America program and distribution centers (listed below) then coordinate resources for their area. The regional locations partner with thousands of even more local sites, including faith based organizations, local pantries, churches, and soup kitchens , among others. Many Feeding America centers also operate free pet food banks for people that need help feeding a dog or cat, with details below. Drive-Thru and Mobile Feeding America pantries are also located in many parts of the country near you. These are run by local charities and non-profits. Feeding America helps keep these centers supplied and coordinates operation so coverage is provided to more parts of the country. They allow regional food banks help a greater number of low income families, and increase the number of people served in local communities. They focus on certain towns and communities, and find food near where you live . The National Produce Program, including CSA farm, is another resource available. This will provide fresh fruits, vegetables, and other produce items to the low-income as well as senior citizens. The CSFP - Commodity Supplemental Food Program
is a USDA nutrition program that focuses on low income seniors and children. It will satisfy their more unique nutritional needs. It can help people over the age of 60 or women, infants, and children. There is free cheese, Ensure for Seniors from Feeding America, food and more as part of the government commodities . Feeding America has SNAP Outreach program, or the version of SNAP/EBT in your state as the name may change based on state. Vouchers or electronic debit cards (EBT) are part of this, and clients can use them to shop at local grocery stores or maybe even food banks for the items they need.
